Microsoft announced that one of the key employee is the largest software company, Craig Mundie, resigned as head of technology research.
Mundie last official position as Chief Research and Strategy Officer of Microsoft will retire in 2014, just when he was 65 years old.
Mundie, who is one of two executives in charge of Microsoft after Bill Gates retired from Microsoft in 2008, the rest of his service will be an advisor to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
Mundie left vacant position will be given to Eric Rudder was serving as Chief Technical Strategy Officer of Microsoft.
"In this role, he will work on key strategic projects within the company, as well as working with government and business leaders around the world about technology policy, regulation and standards," Microsoft general on the official website.
Mundie started his career in 1970 and joined Microsoft, based in Redmond, USA in 1992. When Bill Gates retired, Mundie entrusted with research and long-term technology strategy of Microsoft, as reported by AFP.
